Course Overview

This qualification is for those individuals who wish to carry out a qualification at college with the view to seeking employment within property maintenance when completed. This qualification aligns to the Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours in the Property Maintenance Operative (ST0171) Occupational Standard. Learners will cover entry-level knowledge, skills and behaviours for the technical areas of tiling, plastering, plumbing and drainage, painting and decorating, carpentry and joinery, building systems and maintenance to external property areas.

What You Will Study

All Construction related study programmes cover Health and Safety, principles of construction for that specific trade, sustainability and develop digital skills. With a significant amount of workshop time, you will develop practical skills for the trade. Whilst following this study programme you will be supported to develop the behaviours and attitudes employers seek when recruiting.
  • How You Will Be Assessed

    In year there will be four externally set theory assessments and practical skills will be assessed with a synoptic assessment completed in the summer term.

  • Entry Requirements

    4 GCSEs at Grade 9-4, including English and Maths All learners will be required to complete a BKSB assessment

  • Further Study

    On completion, you can progress as a full-time learner to the Level 2 Certificate/Diploma. Alternatively, if you have gained employment in the sector you may return as an apprentice on a day release basis to achieve a Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard, progressing to the Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard
