What You Will Study
Level 2 will suit you if you have some relevant plumbing and heating knowledge and skills, usually from a role where you've been supervised.
A number of units will be covered. Mandatory units, include:
- Understanding and carrying out safe working practices in building services engineering
- Understanding and applying domestic hot water system installation and maintenance
- Understanding and applying domestic above ground drainage system installation and maintenance techniques
- Attendance Expectations
One day per week, the day of attendance is expected to be Monday.
- How You Will Be Assessed
Knowledge and practical skills being developed will be assessed over the duration of the programme. These will include both online and paper-based assessment in the classroom and synoptic practical assessment in the workshop environment.
In addition, you will be assessed against a set of performance and knowledge statements which have been derived from National Occupational Standards for your occupational area.
You will be required to produce a Portfolio of Evidence showing how you have met the performance and knowledge criteria for each unit required within the qualification, as directed by your assessor.
- Entry Requirements
It is recommended that you hold GCSEs at Grade 9-4 in English, Maths and Science. Where these are not in place it is required that you can evidence working towards Level 2 in a BKSB assessment.
You need to be in employment and working as a Plumber before being able to start the course.
