Course Overview
This course will build on your existing knowledge and help you to acquire welding skills at an advanced level.
This is a practical, hands-on course and you will work in our fully equipped fabrication and welding workshop.
What You Will Study
You will study the theory and practice of welding in one of the following:
- Metal Inert Gas Welding (MIG)
- Tungsten Inert Gas Welding (TIG)
- Manual Metal Arc Welding (ARC)
- Attendance Expectations
13-week cohorts
1st cohort (September) – 08/09/2025 – 09/12/2025 – will take place on Mondays and Tuesdays 6pm – 9pm
2nd cohort (December) – 15/12/2025 – 14/04/2026 – will also take place on Mondays and Tuesdays 6pm – 9pm
3rd cohort (March) – 16/03/2026 – 30/06/2026 – structure below:
First 3 weeks: 3 hours per week – Thursdays 6pm – 9pm Last 10 weeks: 6 hours per week – Tuesdays and Thursdays 6pm – 9pm
22-week cohort - Thursdays
(September) – 11/09/2025 – 05/03/2026
- How You Will Be Assessed
By practical assignments and a multiple choice examination.
- Entry Requirements
City & Guilds Level 2 Welding Skills.
OR
Substantial previous welding experience at a Level 2 standard.
- Fee Information
£815 (TIG £900)
Related additional costs may include materials, equipment, visits, residentials etc which are payable by all students.
- Further Study
NVQ Level 3 Welding, subject to your obtaining suitable employment, or an apprenticeship in Engineering.
