What You Will Study
You will gain 60 credits by studying three compulsory units:
- Study Skills and Introduction to Business Research
- Research Project or Dissertation
- Understanding Business Organisations
- Introduction to Marketing
- Financial Awareness
- Managing People
- English Legal System
- Human Resources in Organisations
- Attendance Expectations
Classes are currently timetabled all day on Monday and Tuesdays.
- How You Will Be Assessed
Assessment takes place through course assignments, oral presentations and examinations.
The Research Project/Dissertation and subject units will be graded Pass, Merit or Distinction.
Introduction to Business Research and Study Skills will be ungraded units but are mandatory so students must achieve a pass in order to gain the Access to HE Diploma qualification.
- Entry Requirements
Ideally GCSE English Language and Mathematics at Grade 9-4, but your numeracy and literacy skills will be assessed prior to a place being offered and you may be allowed to do Maths or English GCSEs alongside your Access course.
You will be expected to bring maturity and good organisational skills to the course.
All applicants who meet the entry requirements will be interviewed following a written assessment.

- Further Study
The majority of students progress to a degree courses, including the competitively-priced Higher Education programmes offered at Wakefield College such as the Foundation Degree in Management and Business Enterprise or Foundation Degree in Marketing Management followed by the BA (Hons) in Business and Management.
Students have progressed to a variety of universities, including Leeds, Leeds Trinity, Huddersfield, Sheffield, Sheffield Hallam, York, Bradford, Hull and Lancaster.
