Course Overview

As a plasterer you can expect to prepare surfaces and level off uneven areas; mix plaster to the right consistency by hand or with an electric mixer; apply 'wet' finishes to walls and ceilings; create ornamental features like ceiling roses, cornices and architraves; fit internal plasterboard or wallboard partitions in rooms; coat outside walls with protective coverings like pebble dash or render.

You could work at a client's home, on a construction site or at a client's business.

This qualification is for those individuals who work or want to work as a Plasterer in the construction sector.

What You Will Study

The qualification allows candidates to learn, develop and practise the skills required for employment and/or career progression in Plastering. It covers the following skills:
• Preparing backgrounds surfaces and plastering materials
• Applying scratch coats
• Fixing sheet materials
• Applying floating coats
• Applying setting coats.

Assessment is continuous throughout the year.
Theory is assessed through examination.

4 GCSEs to include grade 3 in English language and Maths

Progression to a plastering apprenticeship or a fulltime level 2 study programme for plastering.
