Course Overview
This course is designed to equip you with the practical skills and theoretical knowledge for progression on to the Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Hairdressing. It should be noted that there is a large amount of theory, including some science, involved in this course. The course is suitable for anyone who is interested in Hairdressing, has good dexterity and communication skills.
What You Will Study
You will gain hands-on experience in:
- Health and Safety
- Client Consultation
- Cutting
- Colouring
- Styling
You will be assessed not only on your practical skills and your theory knowledge, but also on punctuality, reliability and professionalism. You will work and be assessed on live models in readiness for the next level qualification which, if passed successfully, will enable you to be ‘job ready’ at the end of two years. As part of this programme you will complete one week on work experience in a salon. This may involve travelling some distance and working late evenings where necessary.

5 GCSEs at Grade 9-3, including English or Maths
OR
Successful completion of Level 1 Hair & Beauty.
On successful completion, you may choose to progress on to the Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Hairdressing, subject to the successful completion of this qualification, evidence of progression in English and Maths, a successful interview and reference. Many students also choose an Apprenticeship to earn whilst they learn and continue their studies.
