Course Overview

The Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Site Carpentry is aimed at experienced site carpenters who are working in the construction industry and need to demonstrate their occupational competence.

The qualification is completed entirely through the workplace, allowing students to use the skills, knowledge and experience developed through work to demonstrate that they meet the required industry standards.

You will demonstrate skills in areas such as planning and organising work, problem solving, interpreting technical information, communicating effectively, maintaining quality standards and working safely.

Achieving the qualification provides formal recognition of your advanced site carpentry competence and can support career progression and opportunities to take on greater responsibility within the construction industry.

What You Will Study

You will demonstrate your advanced site carpentry skills through the work you carry out in your normal job.

This includes working safely, planning and organising work, maintaining good working relationships, installing bespoke first and second fix components, and setting up and using transportable cutting and shaping machines.

You will also complete optional occupational units relevant to the work you undertake, such as structural carcassing, roof structures or maintenance activities.

No formal attendance at college required.

Assessment takes place entirely in the workplace while you carry out your normal carpentry duties. Your assessor will observe you at work and gather evidence through workplace activities, professional discussion, questioning, photographs and relevant job documentation.
