T Level Health

Course Overview
This course is equivalent to three A Levels.
Students on the T Level in Health develop their knowledge and skills through a combination of classroom learning, practical application and real-world workplace experience over a two-year programme. They benefit from access to hospital simulation wards equipped to industry standards, enabling them to learn and practice clinical skills in a realistic environment while preparing for professional roles in the healthcare sector.
Students will undertake an industry placement for one day per week, working towards a minimum of 315 hours across the duration of the qualification, providing valuable hands-on experience in real healthcare settings.
What You Will Study

- The healthcare sector
- Managing information and data in healthcare

- Safeguarding
- Core science concepts
- Human biology systems
- Infection, immunity and disease
Across the two-year T Level in Health, assessment is split evenly between the core component (generally Year 1) and the occupational specialism (generally Year 2): in the first year, students complete externally set and marked written examinations (two papers) alongside an Employer Set Project (ESP)—a substantial, case study–based assessment involving tasks such as research, role play, care planning and presentation—which together assess underpinning knowledge, understanding and core skills and make up 50% of the overall qualification.
In the second year, students complete a single synoptic occupational specialism project, typically lasting several hours and made up of multiple scenario-based tasks (e.g. practical activities, professional discussions and applied care tasks), which assesses their ability to apply knowledge, skills and behaviours to achieve occupational competence in a chosen pathway.
5 GCSEs at Grade 9-4, including English, Maths and Science.
Progression routes include:
- Higher Education to study University degrees such as Adult Nursing
- Apprenticeships/Higher Apprenticeships
- Further specialist training for healthcare pathways
