Case Study
Chelsea
"The thing I enjoy most about this course is that it allows me freedom to follow my own art practice and choose which routes I go down.
There are also lots of opportunities for community involvement, and I’ve gained an understanding of how to be a practicing artist in the outside world, not just the classroom. We’ve been able to visit places like Leeds Library, Yorkshire Sculpture Park and the Hepworth, and it is really valuable to see how other artists work and how they’ve become successful in their careers.
I’ve never written a dissertation before, but my tutors have given me lots of guidance; they always go above and beyond to help. I plan to take a gap year to work in a care setting, then either study for a master's in art therapy, or take an apprenticeship. My goal is to become a self-employed art therapist, creating a safe space where I can work with clients of all ages, including special needs children."
