Case Study
Ellie
"I joined Selby college post-16, studying a BTECH level 3 extended diploma. I then went on to study a bachelor's degree in Sports Coaching and Exercise Science and a PGCE, both at Selby College.
As part of my PGCE, I completed a placement at the college, and I am now working as a Lecturer in UPS (uniformed protective services) here.
It was a great experience to go from being supported as a student to being supported as a colleague, as you know you can trust the people around you.
One of my favourite memories from my time studying at Selby College was taking part in the annual volleyball tournament where staff and students go head-to-head and support a local food bank at the same time.
My current role involves teaching Level 1 to 3 across Sport and Public Services, both the practical elements of the courses and the theory to go alongside it. I enjoy watching the students progress up the Levels and seeing their achievements.
The next step in my career will be to move into a new role at Selby College as a Lecturer in Health and Social Care, which will provide me with a new challenge within the organisation."
