Something to celebrate? Perhaps a birthday, exam success or a special anniversary? Why not meet your friends at Gaskell’s and enjoy fine food in a sophisticated but relaxed atmosphere. Gaskell’s is Wakefield College’s fully licensed training restaurant operated by Hospitality and Catering students.
For our students it creates a realistic working environment in which to practise the skills they have learnt in the classroom. For members of the public it provides the opportunity to sample high quality dishes at moderate prices.
This year we will be a 40 cover establishment.
Gaskell’s Restaurant is located on Margaret Street in The Beaumont Building. We open for lunch service on a Tuesday and Wednesday and for dinner service on a Thursday evening. Lunch - Reservation times are 12pm, 12.15pm and 12.30pm. Dinner - Reservation times are 6.30pm, 6.45pm and 7pm.

Dinner - from £22.50 per person
We accept, cash, card or cheques that are made payable to ‘Wakefield College’ Please check at the time of booking as with some events prices may vary. We do not offer on site parking, however there is ample parking on Margaret Street and the surrounding area offers multiple car parks. We do have disabled access. Please inform of us of this at the time of booking especially if access to a lift is required.
We have returned to Gaskell’s numerous times last Autumn and this year and never been disappointed. We always get a good welcome, the food is very varied and flavoursome. We particularly enjoy the ‘themed’ nights and to say the food is prepared and delivered by young students it is a credit to them all whether they are cooking, behind the bar or doing table service. They are lovely young people whom we have seen grow with confidence through the season, well done to you all. What’s not to like.

Had a fantastic meal here tonight. Twenty six members of our choir had a 5 course meal for £21, including a cocktail and coffee. Incredible value for money and beautiful food. It’s a great way for the students to learn ‘on the Job’. As it’s was rhubarb week, Rhubarb featured in every course, which could have been an issue if you aren’t a fan. It was wonderful! We will definitely be back.

A pleasant cosy restaurant reached by a few steps. The food was excellent and very well presented and it was nice to try some Scottish dishes that we haven‘t had before. The service by the students was of a high standard and nothing was too much trouble. The restaurant was fully booked for our group and they coped very well with us all turning up at the same time.

I came for a meal today and the food was absolutely incredible. Fresh, tasty, perfectly presented and perfect portion size. The service was professional, caring and efficient. This 3 course meal was one of the best meals I’ve had out in a very long time. I can’t wait for my next Gaskell’s meal. Thank you to all the wonderful staff/students that gave me such a warm welcome and excellent service.
