What will the apprentice be doing?

  • To ensure compliance to the company’s rules and procedures with special emphasis on the Health & Safety requirements set out during the induction and within the training provided
  • To ensure good hygiene levels are met as part of the task being completed and for the workshop areas and machinery utilised. Follow clean as you go policy
  • Attend regular review meetings as set by your mentor or your immediate manager
  • Attend college on a day release basis leading to recognised qualifications agreed at the start of the apprenticeship. Level 3 BTEC & Level 3 NVQ
  •  To complete a program of training alongside your engineering mentor covering all areas of the electrical engineer’s role across site
  • To complete all E -Learning training and any training the Company allocates to you
  • To become proficient in the application and use of a wide range of hand & machine tools as required for the electrical engineer’s role
  • To fully understand the planned maintenance programs for all areas and machines within the control of your mentor and assist in the completion and continued development of these
  • To fully understand and carry out the ordering process in relation to maintenance consumable items and production equipment spares as required, including the communication with suppliers to identify and optimise price, delivery and part specification
  •  To cover for other maintenance personnel where possible during holidays and absence to the level of training received at the time of that requirement
  •  To work alongside other personnel where required to gain experience in other areas of the business such as printing, slitting, welding and special project handling to further your knowledge of how the machines operate
  •  To build good working relationships with the personnel you come into contact with as part of the engineering role

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • You will attend Castleford College on a say release basis, alongside a designated assessor making regular on-site visits for further development
  • Your employer will allocate you a mentor

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

  • The succcessful canddiate will be provided furtherr opportunities to develop
