This course helps you learn practical skills needed for getting a job in welding or studying further. You'll learn how to cut, shape, weld, and put together materials.

You'll take this course at Castleford College, which has specialised engineering workshops. The campus has great welding equipment in professional workshops.

During the course, you'll develop your skills in different areas like TIG welding, MIG welding, metal forming, engineering drawing, staying safe at work, and communication.

As part of the program, you'll get to meet local employers through visits, talks, and practice interviews.

What You Will Study

Throughout the course, you'll acquire proficiency in a range of essential skills including TIG welding (Tungsten Inert Gas Welding), MIG welding (Metal Inert Gas Welding), sheet metal work, engineering drawing, health and safety protocols, and effective communication techniques.

  • How You Will Be Assessed

    Assessment in this course comprises of a combination of practical assessments, written assignments, and in-class examinations.

  • Entry Requirements

    GCSEs at Grade 9-3 in English and Maths.

  • Further Study

    There are opportunities for further study available within our Level 3 provision in engineering and manufacturing.
