Course Overview

The Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills is designed to provide learners with a comprehensive introduction to a range of counselling skills. Learners will develop their knowledge of the counselling profession, looking at the role of professional frameworks/codes of conduct and the core personal qualities that enable competent counsellors. Learners are introduced to the roots of counselling theory and how theory underpins counselling skills. This qualification provides a rudimentary understanding of the three main areas of counselling theory and how they can relate to counselling practice. Learners will also begin to develop their practical skills in developing, maintaining and concluding a basic counselling session, providing them with the skills, knowledge and understanding of practice within the boundaries of an ethical framework.

  • Attendance Expectations

    This course is a 25-week course, with three-hour lessons with both a daytime and an evening course option.

  • How You Will Be Assessed

    You will assess through professional discussion, role paly and written assignments and an externally assessed exam.

    There are no formal entry requirements for this course, however you will undertake an initial assessment on starting the course.

    Upon completing this course, you could progress to Level 3 Certificate in Counselling.
