This course has been designed to increase your knowledge and understanding of different areas, including:
- The diagnosis of Dementia
- Supporting and caring for Dementia patients
- The causes of Dementia
- The different types of Dementia
- How Dementia is diagnosed and other conditions associated with Dementia
- How a person-centred approach can be used to support individuals with Dementia
What You Will Study
This course is made up of 7 units:
- Principles of understanding dementia
- Understand the use of person-centred approaches to underpin the care and support of individuals with dementia
- Principles of communication and interaction in dementia care and support
- Principles of supporting positive interaction, occupation and activity in dementia care
- Principles of understanding equality, diversity and inclusion in dementia care and support
- Understand how individuals with dementia can be supported to exercise rights and choices
- Principles of the administration of medication to individuals with dementia
- Attendance Expectations
There are no lessons to attend, though we would expect you to undertake 5-10 hours of learning a week.
- How You Will Be Assessed
You will be assessed through a range of assessment methods, including short answer questions and longer essay style questions.
