Course Overview

The Level 3 Award in Education and Training is an introduction to teaching that will give an insight into the roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training. You will learn how to plan, assess and deliver inclusive teaching sessions as well as how to deliver constructive feedback.

This is an ideal first step for anyone considering a career in teaching or training.

The course is delivered through a variety of teaching methods and students will learn from taught sessions, by self-study and through reflecting on the practice of teaching.

What You Will Study

On successfully completion of this qualification you will have a fundamental understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a teacher/trainer in relation to legislation, equality, diversity, inclusivity and meeting the needs of learners.

You will be able to sequence learning, plan and deliver sessions, using appropriate resources and teaching methods. You will also be able to identify the characteristics of effective assessment and feedback.

  • Attendance Expectations

    The course can be offered evening or daytime.

  • How You Will Be Assessed

    Assessment is on-going throughout the course, based on short written assignments and observation by your tutor. On completion you will achieve 12 credits at Level 3.

  • Entry Requirements

    All candidates need to show a satisfactory level of competence in written and oral communication skills. You will complete an initial assessment to ensure you are working at Level 2 in English and Maths but you will be offered further support for this if needed.

    Candidates are required to have evidence of Level 3 Vocational Skills for the area in which they will teach/train if they are to progress into teaching in the further education and skills sector.
