Principal Sam Wright and the Higher Education Team celebrating their NSS results

The University Centre at the Heart of Yorkshire Education Group is celebrating a strong performance in the 2025 National Student Survey (NSS), with results showing it has outperformed the national higher education sector average in key areas.

The University Centre recorded significant progress across teaching quality, learning opportunities, academic support and assessments – exceeding national benchmarks across a range of areas.

Over 94% of students stated they were satisfied with the academic support they received, surpassing the sector benchmark of 89%.

More than 90% of students also reported they were happy with the teaching on their course, with many highlighting how their studies helped them build essential knowledge and skills for the future.

An equally high percentage were pleased with the learning opportunities offered, noting that their courses allowed them to explore ideas in depth and apply their learning through assessments that reflected their progress.

Students also rated their courses highly for intellectual stimulation, and 87.9% said teaching staff made their subject engaging and accessible.

The survey’s focus on student voice revealed that 84.5% of learners felt their views were heard and valued by staff, which is 4% above the national average - highlighting the University Centre’s commitment to listening and responding to student feedback.

Steve Mulligan, Head of Higher Education at the Heart of Yorkshire Education Group, said: “It’s fantastic to see such strong engagement from our students in this year’s National Student Survey, and even more rewarding to see the University Centre achieve such outstanding results. This demonstrates the commitment and passion of our staff, who go above and beyond to provide a high-quality, supportive learning environment for our learners where their voices are heard and their feedback is valued. I’m incredibly proud of what our students have accomplished and wish them every success as they progress into employment or further levels of study.”
