 Castleford College and Wakefield College are celebrating exceptional results, achieving a 100% pass rate across its T Level programmes and an impressive 98% pass rate for A Levels.

Many students have secured places at prestigious Russell Group universities or are stepping into careers in sectors such as policing, engineering and beyond.

Wakefield College’s A Level programmes excelled, with fifteen of eighteen subjects achieving a perfect pass rate. This includes English Literature, which maintained its 100% record for the 20th year running.

Amongst this year’s standout achievers is Lucas Buttery, who earned straight As in Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics, and is set to study Aerospace Engineering at the University of Leeds.

Lucas said: “I picked these subjects as I knew they would get me into my dream university and one day into my chosen career field of Aerospace Engineering. It’s given me lots of transferable skills, such as independent study and my tutors were incredibly helpful with my UCAS applications.”

Celebrating together were identical twins and construction rising stars, Oliwia and Wiktoria Loc, who each achieved triple Distinction*s in their Construction courses. Wiktoria, a Castleford College student, has secured an Overhead Lines-Person and Sub-Station Fitter Apprenticeship at international electricity company, Omexom, whilst Wakefield College student Oliwia will study Construction Management at the University of Huddersfield.

Oliwia said: “I’m incredibly proud of my results – determination and hard work have been the key to this. I can’t wait to start at university! In the future, I hope to become a Project Manager and run my own construction company.”

Also earning a triple Distinction*, Gabriela Jivkova, a Level 3 Art & Design student, will progress onto a degree in Fine Arts at Sheffield Hallam University. She said:

“I’ve really enjoyed my time at Wakefield College and how welcoming the environment is. My course has taught me valuable skills such as ceramics, painting, drawing and presentation, which will be useful at university. I hope to one day become a ceramicist.”

T Level Engineering student, Edward Liversidge, who studies at Castleford College, secured a place to study Cyber Security at Manchester Metropolitan University after receiving a Merit and Distinction.

Edward said: “I have developed skills in using a range of new and exciting technology, which has helped me to progress to university and, hopefully, my dream job as a penetration tester in the cyber security field.”

Level 3 graduates can also progress to higher-level study at the University Centre at the Heart of Yorkshire Education Group, which offers flexible and affordable full- and part-time programmes.

One of these students is Cadie Tranter who received an A* in her Level 3 Health & Social Care course. Cadie said: “I can’t wait to start my degree course in Health & Wellbeing at Wakefield College’s University Centre, as my dream job is to become a Therapist. The most valuable skills I learnt at College were independence, resilience and patience.”
