Find out more below about how we support our students.
- Pastoral Support
All full-time students have a named point of contact for help and advice. As well as regular group and one-to-one personal development sessions, we will monitor your progress and attendance and set targets through action planning. We also help with careers advice, CV writing, job and Higher Education applications, as well as any problems, and personal or social issues.
- Student Wellbeing Officers
If you need support at College, feel overwhelmed or need helps due to problems in or outside of College, whatever the reason, our Student Wellbeing Officers are here to help. Our team work closely with students and other services both in and outside of College. The team can support via 1:1 meetings, small groups, drop-ins and through other wellbeing activities.
- Counselling
Life can be very challenging and sometimes it can feel too much to cope alone. Counselling can offer you a safe and confidential space to be heard – an opportunity to talk to a caring, non-judgemental professional who will help you to explore the causes of your distress and find ways to move forward. Counselling can be face-to-face in College, online via Teams, or over the phone, whichever is easiest for you.
If you feel that counselling might be helpful for you, please email
This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . The College counsellor will invite you for an initial appointment to talk about your needs. Counselling is free and available to all students at College during term-time. - Quiet Contemplation
A room for quiet contemplation and personal reflection is available for students at all three of our Colleges. Please ask at the reception desk for the room number.
- Feel Safe, Be Safe
You can talk to us about anything… Bullying, harassment, violent or coercive relationships, abuse, drugs, issues at home, homelessness, sexual harassment or violence, exploitation, mental health. We’re here to help and support you.
We take our safeguarding responsibilities extremely seriously. It has been recognised by Ofsted (October 2023) that we have “Learners feel safe at all three colleges. They feel comfortable voicing concerns to tutors as part of the safeguarding process. Staff respond quickly to safeguarding concerns such as domestic abuse, working with in-house support services and external agencies to support learners.”
- Young Adult Carer
If you are caring for a family member at home, our Carer Lead, Carol Price, can work with you to make adjustments to support you in College to ensure you succeed with us. Please see above for Carol's contact details.
